When ships sailed by the power of wind, Indian coffee spent nearly six months at sea en route to Europe. Keeping the beans airtight wasn’t very easy. Exposed to the salty ocean air, the emerald-green beans turned pale yellow. Although tossed out at first, this “monsoon-ed” coffee quickly became a sensation.

Today, with steel-hull ships and airplanes, Indian Coffee is no longer exposed to ocean air. However,  we wanted you to experience this unique taste of India's past.    

We don’t have sailing ships, but we've been able to recreate this unique flavour by letting the beans rest on the Malabar Coast of India during the monsoon rains.

The result is a coffee that echoes with flavours of nut and chocolate and whose low acidity is pleasantly gentle on the stomach. It brews best as an espresso to give you a cup that's truly one of a kind.
